Scottish Snowboarding

Scotland has five "resorts," which have various attributes. They're all small and tend to suffer from miserable weather and frustrating lack of snow for much of the season, but on a good day they can be superb. If you talk to Scottish boarders, you'll find a range of opinions on each location as well as nostalgic tales of glorious days on "the hill."

If you live in Scotland, which you choose to go to is likely to be governed by geographical proximity, weather and snow conditions as well as personal preference, if you've been before.  If you live elsewhere, your choice may be more influenced by availability of accommodation. Aviemore (Cairngorm)  is the best served in this respect, and Nevis Range and Glencoe are both within striking distance of the town of Fort William.

Usually you can't plan your boarding in Scotland much ahead due to the changeable weather and snow conditions.  There are some useful weather report sites for the Scottish resorts. The resorts tend to be around 90 minutes to two hours drive from most of the major centres of population and in general road links to them aren't bad.
