The Lowdown

How to get there:
The Lecht lies on the notorious Cockbridge to Tomintoul road (A939). Infamous for being the first road shut whenever it snows, it's fairly remote, lying in the midst of the Grampian mountains. Public transport is not widely available in the area, maybe not at all. Most likely routes to the Lecht are from Inverness (A9, A938 to Grantown, then A939 all the way) or Aberdeen : A944 to Alford and Mossat, A97 and 944 to Corgarff then A939 : or A93 to Ballater then A939 all the way, probably the quicker option. Alternatively take the A96 North to Huntly, then A920 to Dufftown and B9009 to Tomintoul.
